“There are two ways of facing our being alive. One is to surrender to it, either by acquiescing to its demands or by fighting those demands. The other is by molding our particular life situation to fit our own configurations. One’s particular life situation can be molded to fit one’s specifications. Dreamers do that.”
Don Juan Matus to Carlos Castaneda, The Art of Dreaming
We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims.
Buckminster Fuller
We awaken the 'dreamer', according to seers, when we integrate the awareness of the dreaming body-our energetic twin-and the self. The dreaming body perceives that more than a world of objects, we live in a world of energy, energy that is vibratory, and aware. To integrate that awareness into one's everyday experience is to dream one's life.
Our teachers told us that reaching this most desired state of being is aided by focusing our attention on our kinesthesia - and our synesthesia! As vibratory beings, we are constantly in motion-not to be in motion is not to be alive! Our breath is moving and vibrating, as are our cells, our blood, our senses, our energy, our awareness.
Tensegrity is being aware of this, and how all these different movements and senses work together-it's being aware that you are vibrating right now, in concert with whatever you are sensing, feeling, thinking, giving your attention to.
In this class we will practice movements of Tensegrity with accompanying vibratory rhythms and sounds, to help us to shake off our customary numbness and access this deeper awareness. From there, we can answer the question: What do I want to dream?
And we will be constructing and sharing harmonies of image that vibrate with joy and purpose, that train our attention to awakening and living as dreamers, and what we want to dream, in conscious relation with Spirit.
Our teachers said that the image is less important than the feelings, the vibratory impulse the image evokes-and as we interact with those images and the vibrations they stir, we shift and uplift our own vibration, and our experience follows.
These classes are open to both newcomers and seasoned practitioners. Please note that newcomers need to have participated in class 1 in order to attend the other classes, and that for anyone to attend the 4th or last class of this series, it is necessary to have attended at least one of the prior classes.

* Classes will take place within registered Tensegrity practice groups,
guided by members of that particular practice group who have attended
the special representative training sessions given in Mexico, Italy,
Brazil, Argentina, Russia and United States in 2009 and 2010, by the
apprentices of the four students of don Juan. Please note that class
dates may very among individual practice groups.

Tensegrity is the modern practice of the warrior-traveler’s path with heart which don Juan Matus taught his four students: Carlos Castaneda, Florinda Donner-Grau, Taisha Abelar and Carol Tiggs. The word ‘tensegrity’ was coined by an architect, scientist, engineer, global thinker and dreamer whom Carlos Castaneda admired: R. Buckminster Fuller. Fuller described tensegrity as a process of tensional integrity—the inherent interdependence of structures such as cells, bodies, and solar systems which are held together by a continuous web of tension (such as gravity) holding together discontinuous islands of compression (such as the sun, planets and moons in the solar system).
As a modern practice of shamanism, Tensegrity means adapting to our own energy, the energy of sun and stars, the air, water, the land, and of its inhabitants in a way that supports the interdependent integrity of the community that we are, as individual and collective beings. The tools that can help us to do this include the ancient energy-enhancing movements and breaths known as magical passes, as well as tracking and dreaming exercises, all of which we will do in this workshop.
Tracking exercises are: guided self-examination exercises practiced individually and with a peer witness, which allow one to track not only our physical patterns, but also our related mental and emotional patterns and their consequential behaviors and judgments, which we inherited from our lineage and cultures.
We can direct the energy and awareness gained from this review to access what don Juan Matus called freedom of perception—the freedom to move past any limiting interpretations of our lineage, upbringing and culture to perceive energy directly, and to dream true interdependence—new possibilities of working with others and with the earth–wherever we are, possibilities which spring from an open heart, from bringing one’s best to the interchange. |
