A Workshop on Carlos Castaneda’s Tensegrity

As Above, So Below…

As Below, So Above...

April 9, 10, & 11, 2010
El Escorial Retreat Center
Madrid, Spain

To seek freedom is the only driving force I know. Freedom to fly off into that infinity out there. Freedom to lift off; to be like the flame of a candle, which, in spite of being up against the light of a billion stars, remains intact, because it never pretended to be more than what it is: a mere candle.

don Juan Matus

“We come from the stars,” Florinda Donner-Grau said looking up at the night sky from the garden of the seers’ house.
“And to the stars we return,” Carlos Castaneda said quietly as he joined her with a small group of students.
“Yet on a daily basis, we are little aware of this fact,” he continued. “We get so caught in our own view, we seem to be like individual solar systems centering around what we take to be our personal sun and moon, and planets—our original families—we take them for granted, noticing, for example, only if the sun isn’t bright that day, or our Father didn’t give us what we wanted; and we repeat with others what we played out with our families, ceasing to perceive those other beings—who and what they—and we—really are.”
“And we don’t even notice their context—our ancestors—like a galaxy, and beyond that, an infinity of galaxies, beyond our wildest conceptions, shining with wisdom and joy,” Florinda added.
    “True,” agreed Carlos Castaneda.
“However, if we expand perception, we can re-connect with the cycles of the sun and moon, and beyond them, the cycles of the stars, as the seers of antiquity did, and make a map of our lives and cycles of time here on Earth.”
“The ancients built their cities and dreaming sites this way,” Florinda said. “For example, one such site has a group of seven structures at its Eastern, sunrise end, mirroring what we call the Seven Sisters, or the Pleiades, and three structures at its Western, sunset end mirroring what we call Orion.
“And in between, a very long stone-paved avenue connecting the city’s two ends, an earthly mirror of what we call Milky Way band, which can be said to represent the infinite possibilities contained in the course of one’s life,” Carlos added.
“As above, so below,” whispered Florinda.
“The stars were here long before we were born, and will be here long after we are gone…They are a sentient source of memories, of why we are here, of the paths we came to walk. Bathing in their light ignites our own light, our own experience, to shine forth and be shared amongst other stars… Awareness grows with this kind of collaboration,” he added. “New spheres, new pathways are opened, sparkling with appreciation and discovery.”

Following the line of energy begun in the workshop in Riccione 2008 and the Leadership workshops given in Los Angeles and Rimini 2009, this forest retreat weekend workshop extends this knowledge further by focusing on closing any lingering struggles with outside authority – parents, bosses, partners – so that as travelers-from-the-stars, we can move perceptually to live in the richness and abundance of the present, inhaling and claiming our own purpose and authority—our direct connection with infinity—and receive and share with others from that boundless source.

Early morning ‘day-star’ meditations, ‘star baths,’ music circles, day and evening forest walks, and a full Tensegrity workshop employing magical passes and self-examination exercises will be part of this unique event.

A special introductory session –
Friday, April 9, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm - is FREE and required for first-time participants and open to all; fee for all others is 30 EU. If you would like to attend, please contact Cleargreen directly after registering for the main event below.

The Dreamer-Stalkers' Continuum

The purpose of this subscription is to help carry the intent of what is practiced in the workshop beyond the time of the workshop itself and into our day-to-day life on an ongoing basis. In it, Tensegrity instructors will:

share with you findings of your fellow workshop participants

provide ongoing guidelines - in response to these findings - for tracking energy in your day-to-day encounters.

The yearly subscription is valid until July 31, 2011 and includes at least three issues sent via e-mail. The subscription fee is 30 Euros. The publication is available to registered workshop participants, seasoned and new.

Note: This subscription is independent of the Beings in Dreaming subscription, which will continue to address the content of other workshops.

Tensegrity is the modern practice of the warrior-traveler’s path with heart which don Juan Matus taught his four students: Carlos Castaneda, Florinda Donner-Grau, Taisha Abelar and Carol Tiggs. The word ‘tensegrity’ was coined by an architect, scientist, engineer, global thinker and dreamer whom Carlos Castaneda admired: R. Buckminster Fuller. Fuller described tensegrity as a process of tensional integrity—the inherent interdependence of structures such as cells, bodies, and solar systems which are held together by a continuous web of tension (such as gravity) holding together discontinuous islands of compression (such as the sun, planets and moons in the solar system).
As a modern practice of shamanism, Tensegrity means adapting to our own energy, the energy of sun and stars, the air, water, the land, and of its inhabitants in a way that supports the interdependent integrity of the community that we are, as individual and collective beings. The tools that can help us to do this include the ancient energy-enhancing movements and breaths known as magical passes, as well as tracking and dreaming exercises, all of which we will do in this workshop.
Tracking exercises are: guided self-examination exercises practiced individually and with a peer witness, which allow one to track not only our physical patterns, but also our related mental and emotional patterns and their consequential behaviors and judgments, which we inherited from our lineage and cultures.
We can direct the energy and awareness gained from this review to access what don Juan Matus called freedom of perception—the freedom to move past any limiting interpretations of our lineage, upbringing and culture to perceive energy directly, and to dream true interdependence—new possibilities of working with others and with the earth–wherever we are, possibilities which spring from an open heart, from bringing one’s best to the interchange.
